Thrivent Financial renews commitment to Fox Valley Symphony

APPLETON – Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is renewing its commitment to the Fox Valley Symphony as the 2009-10 Season Underwriter.
Thrivent Financial officials made the announcement Saturday night before the Fox Valley Symphony’s season opening concert at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. Thrivent Financial has been Season Underwriter for the Fox Valley Symphony since the 2005-06 season. Over the past decade, Thrivent Financial and the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation have supported the Fox Valley Symphony and its mission with more than $500,000.
“The entire Fox Valley Symphony organization is deeply grateful to Thrivent Financial for their support. We are able to perform live symphonic music at the highest levels and provide music education in our community as a result,” said Executive Director Marta Weldon. “Over the years, they have enabled the orchestra to grow and flourish. Their commitment to the FVS and the arts in the Fox Valley is exemplary.”

As part of their commitment to the Fox Valley Symphony, Thrivent Financial is also a sponsor of its youth and education programs, including the Fox Valley Youth Orchestras, the Young Artists Festival and the Partners in Education program, which brings music education and professional musicians to more than 60 classes throughout the Fox Cities each year.

The 2008-09 FVS season continues on Nov. 8 featuring works by Mozart, Rodgrio and Zemlinsky and guest artist, guitarist Robert Belinic’. Other season concerts at the P.A.C. include a jazzy tribute to Louis Armstrong featuring trumpet player Byron Stripling on Jan. 31, an April 4th concert featuring Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Michael Daugherty’s Route 66 and Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in D Major with guest artist Wen-Lei Gu, a Lawrence University assistant professor and violin virtuoso, and a concert production of Bizet’s famed opera “Carmen” featuring the White Heron Chorale on May 16. The FVS will also perform Holiday Pops on Dec. 4 featuring Fox Valley Horns and the Lawrence University Jazz Ensemble at Pickard Auditorium.
