FVSO Announces Staff & Board Changes
July 2, 2014
The Fox Valley Symphony is pleased to announce the following changes to our board and staff:
Peter Gianopoulos was unanimously elected as the next President of the Fox Valley Symphony by the board of directors.
Peter is currently a director at Thrivent Financial where he provides leadership to business risk, planning, and performance. Peter was Thrivent’s first employee volunteer of the year award winner in addition to being awarded Thrivent’s President’s Award for his leadership and innovation. He has been a very active member in the community for almost 30 years where he has helped many organizations grow and build strong foundations. He has led many major fundraising, volunteer, and community-impact initiatives for organizations like the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Salvation Army, Special Olympics, United Way and Volunteer Center.
Peter brings with him strong leadership, planning and a passion for the arts. Peter’s main focus will be to help improve the overall operations, planning, and fundraising capabilities of the symphony and will build upon the symphony’s current foundation carrying it into its 50th Anniversary.
Current President Beth Flaherty will be continuing on with the board providing counsel and support to Peter as the Past President.
Jamie LaFreniere was named Chief Operating Officer of the Fox Valley Symphony, which replaces the former role of Executive Director.
Jamie has been with the orchestra as Director of Operations and Marketing for over six years and recently added on the role of Youth Orchestras and Education Manager. Restructuring the staff of the FVSO will allow Jamie to continue in these roles as well as focus increased staff and board attention on growth and sustainability.
Jamie’s goals for the upcoming season are to engage adult and youth orchestras in future planning and to increasing community outreach.
Linda Drezdzon joins the staff in July in the newly created role of Development Coordinator. Linda was the Executive Director of Makaroff Youth Ballet in Appleton for over six years. She has both corporate and non-profit experience and is excited to focus her energies on fundraising. Her demonstrated passion for the arts and track record in fundraising makes an excellent addition to the staff.
Linda will work directly with the board to ensure sustainability for the Fox Valley Symphony and increase activities with both individual donors and corporate sponsorships.
Sarah Koenigs will join the staff this season as our Youth Orchestras Librarian. Sarah is currently a violinist with the orchestra and will be working directly with our three youth conductors on music rental and purchases. Sarah’s addition to the staff will allow our adult orchestra librarian Janet Sutter time to focus on her growing list of duties for the FVSO adult orchestra and Lawrence Academy of Music.
