Fox Valley Symphony receives Wisconsin Arts Grant

The Fox Valley Symphony (FVS) received a $17,396 grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board to fund both its adult and youth programming for the 2008-09 Season.
The FVS successfully competed for one of the grants the Wisconsin Arts Board awards each year. By receiving the $17,396 grant, the FVS has demonstrated that it provides the highest level of quality in its programs, community outreach and administration, according to the Wisconsin Arts Board. The FVS will utilize the funds to serve more than 15,000 people in the Fox Valley region through its five subscription concerts, Holiday Pops concert, chamber music concert and four youth and education programs.
“The funding we receive from the Wisconsin Arts Board is a vital part of our budget for the season and allows us to continue to enhance the cultural development of our community through symphonic music and educational opportunities,” said FVS Executive Director Marta Weldon. “We are grateful to our legislators for their commitment to the arts and understanding our contribution to the Fox Valley Region.”
The Wisconsin Arts Board’s mission is to nurture creativity, cultivate expression, promote the arts, support the arts in education, stimulate community and economic development and serve as a resource for people of every culture and heritage in Wisconsin’s communities. The Arts Board’s grants to arts and community organizations help make programs available to broader audiences, keep ticket prices down and allow groups to undertake innovative programming.

The FVS sponsors two youth orchestras, the Youth Symphony and Philharmonia Strings, who perform fall and spring concerts.
