Fox Valley Symphony names new officers, board members

APPLETON (July 24, 2008) – The Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra has added Ruth Bloedow and Mark Shropshire to its Board of Directors for the 2008-09 fiscal year.

Bloedow and her husband, Will, have been long-time supporters of the Fox Valley Symphony (FVS) as patrons and donors. She is active in several local organizations and activities, including the Fox Cities Book Festival and PEO, an organization that supports education for women.

Shropshire, a physical therapist, owns Motion Synergy Physical Therapy. He has lived in the area for more than 20 years and is active in several organizations, such as the Stephen Ministry Program at First Congregational Church of Christ and the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association. He was also a NCAA Division III Baseball World Series Hospitality Host.

The FVS Board of Directors also selected its officers for the coming year: President – Renee Boldt; Immediate Past President – Mary Harp-Jirschele; Secretary – Anne Hultgren-Dean; Treasurer and Vice President of Operations – Barbara Ristau; Vice President of Development – Mark Scheffler; Vice President of Education – Sally Mielke; Vice President of Investment – Don Hietpas; and Vice President of Marketing – Bill Harke.

The Fox Valley Symphony’s mission is to enrich and nurture the human spirit through symphonic music and educational opportunities than enhance the cultural development of our community. Under the direction of Brian Groner, the Fox Valley Symphony is presenting its 42nd season, beginning with a performance on Oct. 4.
